Construction of a new stadium in Bordeaux for Euro 2016

This is not anything new. In the recent years it has become usual to name the new stadium after the company, which significantly invests in its construction. For example, we can mention stadiums in Germany, as most of the Bundesliga stadiums carry a commercial name. Among the largest ones is Signal Iduna Park (Borussia Dortmund), Allianz Arena (Bayern Munich) or Veltins Arena (Schalke 04). In England there are two well-known stadiums named after airline companies: Emirates Stadium (Arsenal F.C.) and Etihad Stadium (Manchester City). In Turkey, the stadium of Galatasaray bears the name of Türk Telekom Arena, a telephone company. However, the new stadium in Bordeaux is still waiting for the right investor.
Funding for construction of the stadium, which should cost 173 million EUR, is divided into several parts. Half of the total costs will be covered by the Girondins and its partners. The second half of the costs will be met by public authorities, such as the government, the city of Bordeaux, the region and other sponsors. TheFootballStadiums.com |
